Immaculate Conception kids selected for band

Eleven students from Immaculate Conception School were recently named to the Central Jersey Music Educators Association (CJMEA) Elementary Honors Band.  These young musicians were chosen by CJMEA after being recommended by their teacher, ICS Band Director, Mrs. Genevieve Webber. The students attended a full-day practice prior to performing before an audience of parents and friends at Rahway Middle School. IC students place first in math contest

Students in Mrs. Carol Goett’s Advanced Math classes at Immaculate Conception School in Somerville recently participated in the annual St. Joseph High School Mathematics Contest. The contest, which was comprised of individual and team competitions, involved a 16-question, 45-minute exam covering topics in algebra, geometry, and other math topics. SHS band begins busy competetive season

While supporting the Somerville High School Football team at both home and away football games, the Pioneer Marching Band is about to begin its own competitive season as a Group V, Class A band on the USBands circuit, one of the largest marching band circuits in the country. Their first competition is on September 22 at Hunterdon Central High School’s USBands Gold Star show. Reunion held for SHS classes from the 70s

On Memorial Day Weekend 2012 in Somerville, NJ, Somerville High School graduates returned home, participating in a plethora of activities, in addition to attending the annual parade and Kugler-Anderson Bike Races in Somerville. The main alumni event, however, was That 70’s Reunion, the first of its kind, a multi year reunion representing the graduating classes from 1970-1979. Teachers from Somerville’s three public schools were honored at Tuesday night’s Board of Education meeting as teachers of the year. Nancy Kishbaugh has been a kindergarten teacher at Van Derveer school since 2000. Sandy Catenaro is the Teacher of the Year at the Somerville Middle School.  She is a teacher of Special Education and has been teaching at the middle school since 2001. School to host free electronic waste collection

Immaculate Conception School, located at 41 Mountain Avenue in Somerville is hosting a free ‘anything with a plug’ recycling event Saturday, May 12, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the school’s back parking lot.  All types of electronics will be accepted for free including computers, monitors, printers, air-conditioners, computer accessories and household appliances – all those unused items taking up space in your garage that you don’t quite know what to do with. This past February, over 2,700 7th and 8th grade students from 110 Catholic schools across the nation competed in the annual IHM Math Contest.
