A colorful swirl of art\, crafts\, music\, amusement rides\, g ames\, contests\, raffles\, merchandise\, food\, antique cars\, and more wi ll draw a crowd of thousands to Main Street Somerville Sunday\, Oct. 7. Vis itors can take in all that the 26th annual Artists &\; Main Fall Street fair has to offer.

From Borough Hall at the west e nd of town all the way down to the green surrounding the historical Somerse t County Courthouse at the east end of town\, Main Street Somerville will b e transformed into a broad pedestrian boulevard.

From Doughty Stree t to Grove Street\, Artists &\; Main is a visual delight\, with dozens o f artists and crafters displaying their creations\, with several demonstrat ing their techniques\; it’s a shoppers’ paradise\, with Main Street lined b er 200 vendors displaying paintings\, pottery\, photography\, handmade jewe lry\, furniture and many other unique gifts.

There will be live mus ic throughout the day by bands performing on a huge stage at the intersecti on of Doughty Street and West Main Street.

Sponsored by the Somervi lle Business &\; Professional Association\, Artists &\; Main official ly begins at 11 a.m. and continues through 5 p.m.

The SBPA will spo nsor a free raffle for a snow blower\, with the winner’s ticket drawn at th end of the day.

Sanford hopes to mimic the success of an SBPA raffl e held during the Spring Spectacular\, when over 300 visitors signed up for a chance to win a barbecue grille.

“We’re really excited about the wing\,” Sanford said. “We had a ton of success with the drawing at the Spri pectacular and we expect to have even more people signing up.”

For e first time on Main Street this year will be an outdoor beer garden which will be hosted by Somerville Volunteer Firefighters.

“The SBPA is p ud to once again sponsor Artists &\; Main and we are equally proud of al l that Somerville has to offer\,” Sanford said. “Because the event attracts ple from throughout the state as well as New York and Pennsylvania\, it’s a onderful opportunity for residents\, civic organizations and the business c ommunity to come together and promote the town\, as well as enjoy the great buys\, great food and great entertainment.

“We’re expecting a wond l day\, as usual\,” Sanford added.

Like a Jersey shore boardwalk or carnival midway\, Main Street will feature a variety of food\; the aromas wafting down the street will help guide you to hot roast beef sandwiches\, racks of ribs\, sausage &\; pepper sandwiches\, burgers and hot dogs\, f unnel cakes\, popcorn\, cotton candy\, ice cream\, pizza\, canoles\, shish- ka-bobs and other culinary delights!

The KidZone\, located between Doughty Street and Borough Hall\, will include several amusement rides\, ga mes and nonstop activities for the entire family. Classic\, antique and cus tom cars are expected to be on display.

“In conjunction with our ne executive director\, April Sette\, and “This Is It” Promotions\, the SBPA h orked hard to make Artists &\; Main a marquee event in central New Jerse y\,” Sanford said. “We are a family-friendly destination. There’s no better o spend the day than browsing up and down Main Street with friends and fami ly.”

Local fire companies\, veterans’ organizations\, school clubs\ vic and service groups will also be on hand to sell fund-raising merchandis e and distribute information about their organizations.
